OLIVIA MARINA KUNZ
Olivia Marina grew up in Berlin and is currently completing a degree in European Studies in Maastricht, the cultural heart of Europe. As she is not engaging with art on an academic level, she feels a stronger desire to express herself, her emotions and her thoughts in a creative way – mainly through analogue photography.
By capturing radical girlhood in the most natural way, she is attempting to enhance a dialogue about body self-acceptance, self-love and taboos within the concept of beauty. Being allowed to photograph her girls in their purest and most vulnerable moments has been the first step towards self-acceptance and self-love.
Even though beauty, its ideals and taboos are frequently addressed in the world of art and photography, her photo project gives us the opportunity to shift this blunt matter on an interpersonal level. Polaroid’s as her medium is consciously chosen as it prevents the editing process of the blunt and natural beauty. They are purely intending to empower women and embrace their female power.
